Nia Black, Associate Director of Recruitment, Mario Brown, Assistant Principal at James and Rosemary Phalen Leadership Academy, and PLA@93 Instructional Coach, Danielle Burchfield, spoke with WRTV's Nicole Griffin to share how PLA University will bring new hope and opportunities to PLA families.

PLA University was designed exclusively for PLA families. We partner with local organizations and businesses to provide scholar family members who are adult learners with the access, skills, experience, and job placement support to get a job in some of Indiana’s most in-demand fields. While helping our families access great opportunities through free job training, we are also investing in our communities by providing highly-skilled talent to employers.

We are excited to announce that Phase I of our free job training program, PLA University, will launch on Monday, March 22nd with Health & Life Sciences Training. 

PLA University will also offer three other career tracks for participants to choose from including, Information Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, and Supply Chain and Logistics Management. The free job training will support family members in obtaining careers with starting salaries of $30,000-$50,000 per year plus benefits, and the opportunity for future career advancement.

"Our goal is to improve our students’ lives through education, and PLA University strengthens that pledge by offering free education and job training to any of our scholars’ family members. Aunt, cousin, brother, mother or father – we are going to stand side-by-side with our families and work with them to close the wealth gap,” said Founder & CEO Earl Martin Phalen.
