I first want to thank all the parents and scholar athletes for visiting THE FALCONS FOOTBALL NEST here at JRP where we pride ourselves on being scholars first.

The most important thing to me as Head Coach of this program is that I want to do everything I can for my scholar athletes to be successful on and off the field during the season and the off season. I believe in having grade check’s every three weeks, having my players attend our after school Falcons Letterman Club, as well as having them attend tutoring session as needed.  We will be bringing in quality coaches who can help them raise their skills to the next level to help them after their high school career. if you have any questions, pleasee do not hesitate to reach out to me directly via email.

Meet Coach Andrew McDonald

Coach Andrew McDonald returns for his second season as the Offensive Line Coach at James and Rosemary Phalen Leadership Academy. A native of Indianapolis, Coach McDonald is a proud graduate of Warren Central High School. He went on to attend Indiana University, where he excelled as a student-athlete, playing football while earning his degree.

Following college, Coach McDonald achieved his dream of playing in the NFL, spending five years in the league with seven different teams. His professional football career has provided him with invaluable experience and insight that he now shares with the student-athletes at PLA.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Coach McDonald is dedicated to academic success as the 8th Grade Math Lab teacher at JRP. He inspires students both on the field and in the classroom, helping them reach their full potential.

We’re excited to have Coach McDonald’s expertise and leadership guiding our offensive line and motivating our scholars. Welcome back, Coach McDonald!

Meet Coach Roosevelt McMurren (Coach P)

Coach Roosevelt McMurren, affectionately known as Coach P, brings over 20 years of football coaching experience to James and Rosemary Phalen Leadership Academy. As the Assistant Football Coach and Running Back Coach, Coach P’s extensive background spans middle school, high school, semi-pro, indoor football, arena football, and adult 7-man football. His depth of knowledge and passion for the game make him an invaluable asset to the team.

In addition to his coaching duties, Coach P works full-time at JRP as the high school geometry teacher. He combines his love for sports and education to inspire scholars both on the field and in the classroom, fostering growth, discipline, and success in every aspect of their lives.

Meet Coach Steve Giron

Coach Steve Giron has been an integral part of the James and Rosemary Phalen Leadership Academy football program, serving as the Special Teams Coach for the past two years. Drawing from his own athletic experience as a wide receiver and punt returner at Carmel High School, Coach Giron brings a deep understanding of the game and a passion for helping student-athletes excel on the field.

Beyond football, Coach Giron is committed to academic and linguistic growth as JRP’s ELL Para Professional. Every day, he works closely with scholars, helping them transition from their native language to speaking English confidently in the classroom. His patience, expertise, and dedication create a supportive environment for scholars to thrive both academically and socially.

Meet Coach Keesh Brewer

We’re thrilled to welcome Coach Keesh Brewer to the James and Rosemary Phalen Leadership Academy coaching team! This marks his first year as a football coach at PLA, where he’s stepping into the role of wide receivers coach.

Coach Brewer is no stranger to PLA’s mission and values—he’s been an integral part of the school community for the past three years, dedicating his time and energy to supporting scholars. His transition to the coaching staff brings a fresh perspective, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to shaping student-athletes both on and off the field.

Meet Coach Daron Alexander

Coach Daron Alexander is entering his second year as the Defensive Line Coach for James and Rosemary Phalen Leadership Academy. With a strong background in education and athletics, Coach Alexander brings passion and dedication to developing student-athletes both on and off the field.

A proud alumnus of the University of Saint Francis and Central State University, Coach Alexander combines his academic and athletic experience to inspire excellence in his players. Alongside his coaching role, he serves as an 8th Grade History Teacher at JRP, where he engages scholars in meaningful lessons about the past while preparing them for a bright future.
