Our History

Dr. Reginald Flynn, senior pastor of Foss Avenue Baptist Church in Flint, founded Eagle’s Nest Academy in 2015 to transform educational opportunities for local children and youth. Inspired by his own experiences and the challenges faced by Flint’s scholars, Dr. Flynn partnered with HighScope to create a culturally relevant, evidence-based curriculum emphasizing academic excellence, engagement, and social-emotional development. Authorized by Grand Valley State University, Eagle’s Nest Academy opened as a beacon of empowerment and cultural awareness, equipping scholars with the tools to succeed. Today, Eagle’s Nest Academy stands as a testament of Dr. Flynn’s unwavering commitment to uplifting the community and inspiring future leaders.

About Eagle’s Nest Academy

Eagle's Nest Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving scholars in grades K-6 in Flint, MI. We provide a culturally relevant education that emphasizes academic, social, artistic, and physical excellence. We incorporate Afrocentric values in our school-community to foster cultural pride, self-determination, and community responsibility. With a mission to prepare scholars for lifelong success, we remain committed to inspiring a love for learning and equipping scholars to thrive as future leaders.

School Hours

School begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. Doors for scholars open as early as 7:30 a.m.
