PLA is working with both Central Michigan University (CMU) and the MECC Board to have CMU as their new charter authorizer for Stewart, Trix, and Murphy Academies in Detroit.​ We are pleased to share that the CMU is strongly recommending us for approval – ensuring the future of our great work with our Detroit scholars.

Despite strong performance, the Detroit Board of Education voted not to reauthorize the schools. The DPSCD Superintendent maintains that although, in just one-year, PLA schools outperforms other local Detroit schools, the board is moving away from authorizing charters. 

We are thrilled to report that we will continue to operate under a new authorizer.
